The television rights of the NFL is the most lucrative of all US entertainment properties. The NFL has partnership contracts with a number of television networks, nationally and regionally. Nationally, the five broadcasting networks are CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN and NFL Network. These five networks are the major broadcasters of the NFL and produce live coverage of the full season, including the playoffs and the Super Bowl game.
On a regional level it gets far more complex with the NFL being generous in handing out television rights. Unfortunately up to this day, there is no live streaming service or cable TV provider that can provide you with a full scale coverage on every NFL game. However, there are multiple good options for all NFL fans that will give you access to most NFL action throughout the whole season. Live streaming TV providers such as YouTubeTV, Fubo TV and Sling TV will give you access to the NFL Network where you can watch games that are normally out-of-the market for your region. As previously mentioned, we recommend you to always check in on Livesportsontv.com and the NFL TV- and streaming schedule on this page to get full information on how you can watch your favorite team playing.

This is the NFL
The NFL was founded in 1920, making it a recent 100-year celebrity. During its first seasons, the NFL winner was determined by the end of the season standings. The playoff system was implemented in 1933 while the Super Bowl in the format of what we are used to today has been in place since 1967.
Of all professional sports leagues in the world the NFL is the one with the highest average attendance. The average attendance in the NFL is way above 60 000 per game and in the US it’s the most followed sport, substantially bigger than both the NHL, the MLB and the NBA.
There are 32 teams competing in the NFL. The teams are divided into two conferences, the American Football Conference (AFL) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Further, both conferences are divided into four divisions (East, North, West, South) with four clubs in each.
- AFC East: Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets
- AFC North: Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens
- AFC West: Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos
- AFC South: Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars
- NFC East: Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Football Team, New York Giants
- NFC North: Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions
- NFC West: Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks
- NFC South: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers
The regular NFL season runs from September to December before its time for the Playoffs and finally the grand finale, Super Bowl, in February. The teams play 16 games each, though the number of home/away games are not the same every season. Each team's season opponents are decided by a predetermined formula.
After every season a number of team- and player rewards are handed out. Teams and players who’ve performed at an exceptional level throughout the season will be recognized at various banquets and events after the final game of the season. Below you’ll find some of the most valuable team awards.
- Vince Lombardi Trophy: The finest and most prestigious trophy of them all. The Vince Lombardi Trophy is what each and every team is fighting for throughout the season and is what makes the hard work worth it. This trophy is handed out to the winning team in the annual Super Bowl game where the NFL champions are crowned.
- George Halas Trophy: The George Halas Trophy is handed out to the team who wins the conference final in The National Football Conference. The Dallas Cowboys have won the trophy eight times which is more than any other team as of today.
- Lamar Hunt Trophy: Like the George Halas Trophy, the Lamar Hunt Trophy is handed out to the winner of the American Football Conference. The New England Patriots hold the record for most victories, 11 times.
The NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl
As the regular season concludes it's time for the Playoffs to begin. Seven teams from each Conference then proceed to the knockout stage of the tournament which eventually brings two teams to the Super Bowl. The winner of each division qualifies for the Playoffs together with three wild cards from each conference. The Playoffs are played in a knockout format and teams from two different conferences don't face each other until the Super Bowl, where the American Football Conference winner goes up against the winner of the National Football Conference.
One player who has almost become a synonym with the Super Bowl is Tom Brady. The American quarterback holds the record for most Super Bowl wins (7) and most Super Bowl MVP (5). Tom Brady, one of the greatest quarterbacks the game has ever seen, played for the New England Patriots before moving onto Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. He is also the oldest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl, at an age of 43.
